New IBS Admin Assistants
We are super excited to welcome two new administrative assistants over the next few months as we gear up for multiple events (Humboldt Day, Early Career Biogeographers Conference and our 10th Biennial Conference in Vancouver, Canada). Seda Akkurt Gumus
Seda has a Ph.D. in biogeography from Istanbul University, and is interested in biodiversity measurement processes and calculation techniques, having conducted research in biodiversity conservation. She is currently an academic at Manisa CelalBayar University – GIS Dept., lecturing on geodatabases and biostatistics for undergraduates, in addition to providing training on spatial statistics and ordination techniques in ecology for postgraduates within the body of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey.
Lucile Leveque
Lucile is a passionate science communicator based at the University of Tasmania (Australia) where she is finishing her PhD on the drivers of vulnerability in rails and the ecology of the flightless turbo chooks. Originally from France, she tracked lizards in Spain, studied monkeys in Mexico, modelled a rare Tahiti bird in France and spent a year birdwatching in New Zealand before settling on the beautiful island of Tasmania.
